I’ll start off by saying, it was about 30° during my session with Laurel and Matt, so these two are awesome for sticking out the freezing cold! Thankfully there wasn’t much of a breeze, and these two didn’t even look cold. Total rocks stars! Meanwhile, I was bundled up with a hat, scarf, and mittens. And I think I had some chattering teeth every now and then.
We planned for a sunrise session at the very classy and gorgeous Liriodendron Mansion, to accompany Laurel’s elegant dress. We wanted to get that beautiful, soft sun glow coming up over the back of the mansion, and the forecast had called for sun. But I only saw the sun peek up over the horizon for a few minutes while driving to our session, then it disappeared for the rest of the day. I’ve learned that it’s unusual for the weather to actually be as predicted, here in Maryland.
But with these two, celebrating their first miracle baby together, we didn’t need the sun. They were our glowing sun. Laurel and Matt have been waiting so long for their baby shark, and they’ve overcome many obstacles. It’s absolutely heartbreaking to be told you cannot conceive a baby, even with IVF. But when it happens against the odds, it’s glorious and a true blessing. ♥
Laurel is part of our NICU family. She helped care for our babies when they were in there. So I’m incredibly happy that I got to take these photos, for her family to look back on and cherish this special time in their lives. I really wanted to capture her beauty during this magical time, and I told her she looked like a goddess when she was standing in front of the mansion. Because, doesn’t she? :)
